Commonwealth Games Federation Considers Multiple Host Bids

Possible Changes to Games Format

April Executive Board Meeting Discusses Future Plans

The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) is considering multiple host bids for future Games and is open to changes in the format of the event, following its Executive Board meeting in April.

The CGF said it received expressions of interest from several cities and countries to host the 2026 and 2030 Commonwealth Games. The Executive Board will review the bids and make a decision on the host cities in due course.

The CGF is also considering changes to the format of the Games, including the possibility of reducing the number of sports and increasing the frequency of the event. The Executive Board will discuss these proposals further at its next meeting.

The Commonwealth Games are a multi-sport event held every four years for athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. The first Games were held in 1930 and have been held in various cities around the world.
