Real Madrid produced a stunning Champions League comeback to sink Bayern Munich 2-1 and 4-3 on aggregate on Tuesday.

Trailing 2-1 from the first leg in Germany, Bayern took the lead in the Bernabeu through Arturo Vidal's 25th-minute strike.

However, Real hit back through a Sergio Ramos header 10 minutes later and then snatched victory in the 84th minute when substitute Marco Asensio curled home a superb effort.

Bayern were reduced to 10 men late on when Vidal was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Real will now face either Liverpool or Manchester City in the semi-finals.

Reaction

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane: "I'm very proud of my players. They showed great character and belief. We knew it would be difficult but we never gave up." Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes: "We're very disappointed but we can't be too critical of our performance. We played well and created chances but Real Madrid were clinical in front of goal."

Conclusion

Real Madrid's victory was a testament to their never-say-die attitude. Despite going behind in the tie, they refused to give up and eventually found a way to win. Their fighting spirit will be a major asset in the semi-finals as they bid to reach the final in Kiev.
