Honolulu (HawaiiNewsNow) - Actor Tamayo Perry has died after being attacked by a shark while surfing in Hawaii.
The 49-year-old died on Sunday afternoon, the Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office confirmed.
A Fluke Incident
According to the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources, Perry was surfing at Laniakea Beach on Oahu's North Shore when he was attacked. Lifeguards brought him to shore, where he was pronounced dead.
Perry was a well-known waterman and lifeguard who had appeared in several films and television shows, including "Blue Crush" and "Hawaii Five-0."
A Tragic Loss
Perry's death is the first fatal shark attack in Hawaii since 2019. It is a reminder of the dangers that can be present in the ocean, even for experienced surfers.
