The Asheville Police Department is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on Wednesday, claiming the life of an officer with the A-B Tech Police Department.

The victim has been identified as Jamil Alexander Hawes, a young officer who was tragically killed in the Fairview area on May 8, 2023. The motorcycle he was riding was involved in an accident, leaving behind a grieving family and the A-B Tech Police Department community.
