Birmingham to Host Commonwealth Games Federation General Assembly

Chris Jenkins has been elected president of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), the governing body for the Commonwealth Games. Jenkins, a former athlete and sports administrator, was elected at the CGF General Assembly in Birmingham, England, on November 12, 2022. He will serve a four-year term, until the end of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Australia.

Jenkins is a highly respected figure in the Commonwealth Games movement. He has been involved in the Games for over 25 years, as an athlete, coach, and administrator. He competed in the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Canada, and the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He was also the chef de mission for the Welsh team at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India.

In his role as president, Jenkins will be responsible for overseeing the CGF's strategic direction and ensuring that the Commonwealth Games continue to be a world-class sporting event. He will also work closely with the host cities of future Commonwealth Games to ensure that they are successful and memorable events.

The CGF General Assembly is being held in Birmingham from November 11 to 14, 2022. The Assembly is the highest decision-making body of the CGF and is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization.
